Odeta Barbullushi

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs since January 2015.

Odeta Barbullushi joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in January 2015. Her portfolio at the MFA covers primarily Albania’s relations with the countries of the region, both at the bilateral level and in the context of international organizations, as well as Albania’s relations with the EU and EU member states. Other responsibilities include issues related to European and regional security. 

Ms. Barbullushi holds the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom (2009) and that of Associate Professor in International Relations from the University of Tirana (2015).  Ms. Barbullushi’ s  professional background is academic and focused on issues of Albania’s state formation and foreign policy, theories and history of nationalism and statehood in Eastern and Central Europe, etc. During her undergraduate studies she worked in the media and communications sector.
