History

In September 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs transferred its state responsibilities to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, established by Decree No.10604, dated 10.09.2017 of the President of the Republic of Albania.
 
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs was established with the Decree No.10604, dated 10.09.2017 of the President of the Republic of Albania “On the appointment of the Council of Ministers”. Based on Law 90/2012, "On State Administration" with the proposal of the Prime Minister, Edi Rama, the Council of Ministers, by decision no. 500, dated 13.9.2017 “For determining the scope of state responsibility for Europe and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”, decided to repeal decision no. 941, dated 9.10.2013 “For determining the scope of state responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs” and the repeal of Decision no. 946, dated 9.10.2013, “For determining the scope of state responsibility of the Ministry of European Integration”. With this decision the Council of Ministers also decided to approve the mission and scope of state responsibility for the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. By Decree No.10606, dated 10.09.2017 of the President of the Republic, Mr. Ditmir Bushati was appointed Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
