APPLICATION FOR LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS ISSUED BY FOREIGN INSTITUTIONS

Legalization of documents issued by foreign institutions

Required Documentation

1) The original document to be legalized;

2) Identification Document, if necessary;

3) Invoice of Payment.

 

Procedural Steps

1) Apply online;

2) Verification procedures followed by the Consul on the online application;

3) Consul updates the applicant on application stage;

4) Legalization of the document based on the Conviction that it is regular.

 

Rules

Embassies and Consular Missions of the Republic of Albania shall carry out the legalization of documents produced by the administration of the host country and other countries that it covers; (For countries that are not part of the Hague Apostille Convention).

Service fee

15 euros for Albanian citizens (or the local currency equivalent);

 

For foreign nationals reciprocity will be applied.

 

Deadlines for Response

Legalization is competed when the original documents have been submitted from the person concerned or when the document to be legalized have arrived by mail at the Diplomatic and Consular Missions of the Republic of Albania.

 

 

 

Notes

  • In cases when the Consul is not convinced of the authenticity of the documents submitted by the citizen, he/she verifies them through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the relevant institutions of the country that has issued the document.
  • In countries with no Albanian embassy or consulate, people are advised to go to their local notary office. In order to be recognized by the authorities in Albania, local notary attestations must be legalized with an Apostille or like any other foreign document.
